Israel's Achilles Heel

Israel's diplomatic ties with the United States run deep with the United States being the first country to recognize the Jewish State with Harry S. Truman issuing a statement of recognition on May 14, 1948, recognizing the State of Israel. This recognition occurred just eleven minutes after Israel's proclamation of independence. The United States barely one year later became the first country to open an embassy in Tel Aviv the de facto capital of Israel at the time.
